Let Go of Your Fears

Fear only exists in the past or in the future. When fear is taking over your thoughts, look around you and observe what's going on. What do you see, hear, taste, touch, and smell? What aspect of your current environment is causing you to sense fear or danger? Nothing? Then release the fear.

If it serves you better, replace the word "fear" with worry, stress, anxiety, etc.

Once you can calm your nervous system and you fully believe and understand that there is no harm or imposing danger, then dive into the situation causing your nervous system to spike.

If it's in the past - LET IT GO. Release what has already happened. There is nothing you can do in this present moment to change what's already happened.

If it's in the future, is there something in this present moment that can make the problem go away or lessen? Can you….

  • Speak up for your needs

  • Create a to-do list

  • Set a boundary

  • Make an action plan

  • Text or call a friend or colleague

  • Walk outside

  • Send an email

  • Journal

  • Check something off your to-do list (ex. pay a bill, do a chore)

  • Meditate / focus on breathing

Whatever you can do right NOW to make the fear smaller, DO IT! It will feel so good!!

And, if there's absolutely nothing you can do right now to make your future's problem go away or easier to manage, then LET IT GO. It's not real if it's in the future. Pull back to the present moment. You are in control.

Repeat this affirmation as many times as needed, or write it out as many times as needed:

This present moment is safe.

I am secure, loved, and Divinely guided.

My fear is not a real threat.

All is well in my world.
